How to Edit a Blog (Via The NETSIMPLE Dashboard):
Overview: This guide will walk you through how to edit a blog post.
1. While on the Dashboard, select the "Content" module on the left-hand side of your screen.
2. Next, in the dropdown menu select the "Blog/Event/Promo" option.
3. This will open the "Blog/Event/Promo" page where you can create, edit, delete, or clone previous blog posts.
4. While on the "Blog/Event/Promo" page, find and select the blog post you wish to edit and select the blue "Options" located to the right-hand side of the post.
5. Next, Select the "Edit" option to open and edit your blog post.
You Can Edit The Following Fields Below...
A. Title - This is the frontward facing title of the post that visitors will see on their end.
B. Slug -This is the tail end of your blog posts URL for example if the blog post was titled "Try Our POS" then the slug would be https://netsimple.io/try-our-pos
Note: slugs in URLs should always be lower case and spaces should be input with a dash (-)
C. Author - This fields is not mandatory, but you can include the author to add a personal touch if needed.
D. Category - This determines the structure of the post and where it will be displayed on your website. You can choose between the following options, or all three if needed. In This Example we will have the "Blog" option selected since this is an existing post.
- Blog
- Event
- Promotion
E. Status - Choose weather this post will be active (which will appear on your site) or Inactive (which will be hidden form your frontward facing site)
F. Post Date - The date input here will trigger the post to become visible on your site (in your blog page) on at the beginning of the date selected.
G. End Date - The date input here will determine the day your post will no longer be visible on your blog page. The system will automatically remove the post the following date input here.
H. Tags - Tags can be created and applied to specific events if needed in order to pull them up in the search bar categorically in the main blog/event/promo page window where all the posts are listed.
Note: If no tags were previously created , you can enter in a new tag name to the right hand side in the field prelabeled as "Enter Tags Name". One you entered in a tag name, be sure to select the blue "Add" button to save.
I. Featured Image - Select the "Select File" button to open your File Managers to select your blogs new photo that will appear front and center.
J. Image Alt Text - Leave a descriptive short sentence explaining the image being displayed for your viewers with vision impairment.
K. Description - This field will display a brief description of your post in the list format to draw your visitors in. Keep in mind this is mean to be short.
L. Content - This field is meant for the meat and potatoes of your post. You can include all your event details here as well as images and links.
M. Meta Title - A meta title is the HTML title of a webpage, displayed in search engine results (SERPs) and browser tabs. It's a crucial element for search engine optimization (SEO) as it helps search engines understand the page's content and users decide whether to click on the result.
N. Meta Description - A meta description is a brief summary of a webpage's content, typically displayed in search engine results pages (SERPs) below the title tag. It aims to entice users to click on the page by providing a concise preview of its content. While not a direct ranking factor, a well-written meta description can significantly impact click-through rates and user engagement.
O. Keywords - Keywords in blog posts are words or phrases that people type into search engines to find information. They help search engines understand what your blog post is about and match it with relevant search queries, making your content more discoverable by your target audience.
P. Gallery - Select a gallery option in the dropdown menu if you wish to display a picture gallery on your blog post. You also have an option to revert to the Galleries window and edit if needed. Keep in mind this is more for the advanced user who has set up a gallery before.
6. Once you have completed all of the necessary fields above, you can select the blue "Save" button located in the lower right-hand side of your screen to launch the post.
