Updating the Amelia WordPress booking plugin regularly is very important to keep up with the new functionalities. There are two ways for you to update the plugin, automatically and manually, read more about both ways below.
Automatic Update
To enable auto-updates, just add your purchase key to the corresponding field and activate it in the Activation Settings Dialog on the Settings page.
If you bought Amelia on our website, you can find your purchase code in the e-mail that you received when you made the purchase, or in our TMS Store following this link, where you can log in with the credentials you received in the e-mail after your purchase.
If you bought Amelia from CodeCanyon, please take a look at this tutorial on how to find your Amelia Purchase Code – Link.
Manual Update
Before you start with the manual update, please check if the option ‘Delete plugin tables’ is disabled in Amelia Activation Settings (it is disabled by default). If this option is enabled, deleting Amelia on the WP Plugins page will delete Amelia’s tables and data from the database as well.
When you download the new plugin version (if you bought it on our website, please download it from our TMS Store from this link, or if you bought it on CodeCanyon, then please download it from this link), please follow these steps to update it manually from the existing version:
When you download the new plugin version (if you bought it over our website please download it from our TMS Store from this link or if you bought it over CodeCanyon then please download it from this link) please follow these steps to update it manually from the existing version:
- Deactivate/delete the old Amelia version that you have previously used
- Locate the downloaded ZIP file with the plugin (the download is available immediately in the browser after you finish the checkout and in the emails sent upon purchase).
- Access Plugins section in your Dashboard,
- Click on “Add New” in the top left,
- A new window will appear, and you’ll see “Upload Plugin” – again in the top left,
- Click on “Choose File” and select the previously downloaded ameliabooking.zip file,
- Click on “Install Now”, and the plugin will automatically be installed.
You will be presented with a notice that the plugin was successfully installed, and you can click on ‘Activate’ in that same window to activate the plugin. Of course, you can simply navigate to the Plugins section in your Dashboard and activate Amelia from the list.
Please note that the plugin is around 10 MB in size, so if the upload limit is defined to be less than that, you may be presented with a message ‘The link you have followed has expired.’ If you see that message and are not able to upload the plugin through the WordPress Plugins page, you will probably need to increase the following:
- upload_max_file size,
- post_max_size,
- max_execution_time
You should be able to find these values in your php.ini file or on your hosting panel. If you can’t find it yourself please ask your hosting provider to provide it.
Another way of updating the plugin manually is through FTP. If you have any issues updating the plugin through the Dashboard, or you simply need to update it through FTP, please follow these instructions:
1. Go to your FTP and open the WordPress plugins folder
2. Delete the old Amelia version folder
3. Upload the new version of Amelia
4. Go to the WP-admin panel, and open the Plugins section
5. Deactivate Amelia, and then activate it again
